The Union Home Ministry has approved the recruitment of 58,000 additional personnel for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), given the possibility of future industrial centers in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). At the same time, Home Minister Amit Shah has set a deadline of March 2026 for the security forces to end Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh, one of the worst states affected by left-wing extremism.

The official said that these new posts will prove helpful in the deployment of CISF in important areas like aviation, ports, thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, hydropower plants, and prisons in Jammu and Kashmir.
At the same time, the official said that new industrial centers are expected to emerge with the reduction in left-wing extremism in states like Chhattisgarh, making a strong presence of CISF necessary to provide comprehensive and effective security to these units. CISF has recruited 13,230 personnel in 2024, and recruitment of 24,098 additional personnel is in process during the current year.
