To pursue any course related to this field, you must have passed 12th or its equivalent level examination with 50% marks in Physics or Mathematics along with Chemistry. The Trade Diploma in Health, Safety and Environment course is 18 months. You can also do a certificate course in Fire Technology and Industrial Management.
Apart from this, there are options for courses like Diploma in Health Safety and Environment, Diploma in Fire Fighting, PG Diploma in Fire and Safety Engineering, BSc in Fire Engineering and Rescue and Fire Fighting, whose duration ranges from six months to three years. There is an All India Entrance Exam for admission in these.
Skills are also important, along with a degree.
Along with a degree, professionals associated with this field need patience and courage, leadership skills, and the ability to make decisions in challenging moments. Apart from this, under physical eligibility, the minimum height of men should be 165 cm, weight 50 kg, while the height of women should be 157 cm, and weight should be at least 46 kg. Eye vision should be 6/6 for both, and the age should be between 19 and 23 years.
