India crushed Bangladesh by 41 runs in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 to seal a place in the final. It also sent Sri Lanka packing and means Pakistan and Bangladesh will now play for the right to face India in the final. Earlier, India had also beaten Pakistan in the Super 4. One common factor in both those wins was none other than the dashing young opener who has taken Asia Cup 2025 by storm. Yes, we are speaking of none other than Abhishek Sharma.
Abhishek Sharma Taking Asia Cup 2025 by StormThe left-handed Abhishek had only days back slammed a 39-ball 74 vs Pakistan. He hit six fours and five sixes. But if one thought that was it then one would be mistaken. Just days later, Bangladesh felt the might of his willow as he plundered 75 runs from a mere 37 balls. Six fours and five sixes proved to be the backbone of his explosive knock. Had he not gotten run out due to a lapse in judgement, no doubt he would have made over a hundred runs and India’s total of 168/6 would have also been more.

During the Asia Cup 2025 group stage, Abhishek played some blazing cameos. He made 30 in 16 balls vs UAE, 31 from 13 deliveries vs Pakistan and 38 off 15 vs Oman. But that was just a precursor of the carnage to follow in the Super 4. Two swashbuckling innings in the next two games helped India seal a place in the summit clash with a match to spare. India’s last Super 4 outing is vs Sri Lanka which is of no importance. Not that Abhishek or the Men in Blue will take their foot off the paddle.
Abhishek Sharma’s Mind-Boggling Numbers in Asia Cup 2025The Asia Cup 2025 is proving to be Abhishek’s own and the numbers prove it. He has scored 248 runs in five innings from five games with two 50s at an average of 49.60 and a strike rate of 206.67. Not to mention 23 fours and 17 sixes. As far as stats go, Abhishek has the most runs, joint most 50s, most fours, most sixes, second best average and second best strike rate in Asia Cup 2025 so far. There are just three games left in the tournament and India are playing in two of them. By the time it ends, Abhishek could be topping charts on all of these lists.

At the rate at which he’s going, do not be surprised if Abhishek slams a 100 in one of both of India’s remaining matches. His T20I numbers are an indication that he likes to score quickly and consistently. The man also has the best strike rate (minimum 250 balls faced) in the world. In 21 innings from 22 matches since his debut in 2024, he has made 783 runs at an average of 37.29 and a strike rate of 197.73. Add to that two 100s and four 50s with a top score of 135.
Abhishek Sharma’s Journey Far from OverAt 25, Abhishek has a long way to go but he is on the right track. He’s yet to play Tests or ODIs but that may be around the corner as well. A legend in the making when it comes to T20Is, Abhishek’s journey has only just begun and what a start it has been. If India win the Asia Cup 2025, he will be a key factor. If India are to win the T20 World Cup 2026, he shall have a big role to play.
