Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Government will sell mahseer fish at Mahseer Café in the state. The cafes are being started for the first time in Madhya Pradesh.
The first Mahaseer cafe will open in Bhopal as a pilot project. After that, such cafes will also open in other big cities like Indore and Jabalpur. Protein-rich hygienic fish and sea food will be made available to the public. Decorative fish will also be available along with different ready-to-eat fish. Mahseer is the state fish of Madhya Pradesh. Young fishermen will run Mahseer restaurants and cafes on the lines of Indian Coffee House, Amul.
The decision was taken by the Matsya Mahasangh in the board meeting held at Mantralaya in the city on Monday.

Narayan Singh Panwar said that Mahseer Cafe will be opened at a prominent place in Bhopal with all modern facilities for fish consumers. These cafes will be run through co-operation.
The objective is to increase the fish trade in the state and such innovation is happening in Madhya Pradesh for the first time in India, he said.
Meanwhile, opposing the move, former president of Jain Samaj, Pramod Jain ‘Himanshu’ said “I don’t know about it. But if it is true, it should be opposed.” It exposes the government's double standards. On the one hand, they are talking of promoting vegetarianism; on the other hand they are opening eateries, he added.
