Bar giving free beer for the rest of the decade - but there's a catch

As England and India continue to clash in the men’s cricket in the fourth test at Manchester's Old Trafford, one sports mad bar is getting in on the action with a crazy promotion.

Market Place in Vauxhall, south London is offering free pints until 2030 to any fans crazy enough to legally change their name to former England cricket captain Ben Stokes.

From 31st July to 4th August, anyone bold enough to officially take on the name of Ben Stokes will be rewarded with free pints until 2030 at this bar come cultural hub. It comes as news emerged that Ben Stokes has been forced to withdraw from England's final Test against India at The Oval due to injury.

And if you don’t live anywhere near Vauxhall and have no plans to visit London this summer - don’t despair - anyone can get a free drink just by downloading an app on their phone.

If that sounds like a bit too much hard work, you can still grab a free drink if you’re already called Ben Stokes, Ben Stoke, or even if you’re visiting from Stoke-on-Trent. Just flash your ID or train ticket and enjoy a cold one on the house while raising a glass to the England cricket team.

MiXR Sport offers a free drink upon downloading the app for sports pubs and bars. It has 700 participating bars across the UK including popular names like Slug & Lettuce and Walkabout operated by the Stonegate Group.

It might make up for the dissapointing news that Ben Stokes has had to step out of the team because of injury. Ollie Pope will step up from vice-captain to captain the side, who hold a 2-1 lead in the series.

The loss of Stokes is a significant blow for England after their captain played superbly at Old Trafford, scoring his first Test century for two years.

He took 5-72 with the ball in the first innings before getting through cramp to make 141 with the bat as England posted a mammoth first-innings total.
