People eyeing up a £175 bonus offer from Barclays need to act soon. The bank is offering the payment to new customers who switch to open either a Barclays Bank Account or a Premier Current Account. You need to start the process by August 28 to qualify.
To be eligible, you need to open either bank account in a sole name in the Barclays app. If you are opening a Barclays Bank Account, you will need to join Blue Rewards, which costs £5 a month.
You need to complete a full switch in the app using the Current Account Switch Service, and you must bring over at least two direct debits. You alos have to pay in £1,500 into the new account.
What do I need to do by the August 28 deadline to get the Barclays switch offer?Once you have opened the current account, there are three key steps you need to complete in the app by the August 28 deadline.
The first it to select 'Products' on the home page of the app, and then secondly scroll down to 'Our services' and select 'Switch current account'. The final step is to follow the on-screen instructions to complete a full switch - you will need your old debit card to hand to do this.
Once you have initiated the switch, you need to complete it within 30 days of opening the account. Also within this 30-day window, you have to pay in at least £1,500 into the new account.
You will not qualify if you open a joint account. You also won't qualify if you previously opened a Barclays current account before the offer launched, on July 15.
People who are only eligible for a Barclays Basic Current Account cannot get the payment. You need to be aged 18 or over and a UK resident to qualify.
You will get the payment into your new account within 28 working days of meeting the qualifying rules. The amoutn will appear on your statement as 'Switch Reward'.
