My Life With The Walter Boys is returning for a second series with its third outing already confirmed ahead of its comeback.
Netflix subscribers were gripped with the tragic story of Jackie Howard (played by Nikki Rodriguez) from the get-go whose life changed forever when her family died in a car accident.
The teen went to live with her mum's best friend Katherine Walter (Sarah Rafferty), in Silver Falls, Colorado, but unbeknownst to her, Jackie would be living with 10 other children, nine of which are boys.
Things became even more complicated when she formed a love triangle with brothers Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole Walter (Noah LaLonde).
Now, subscribers are eagerly waiting for season two to drop on Netflix but given that the first series was based on Novak's novel of the same name, many are wondering if this will be the case again.
While the first series mostly stuck to the plot of the novel, the second series is not going to be based on the author's work when it does return.
Firstly, this is because season two was already in the works shortly after its renewal two years ago when Novak's follow-up novel, My Return To The Walter Boys, came out in April this year.
So the writers behind the TV drama have already been hard at work on creating what Jackie gets up to next without the author's work to fall back on.
Secondly, the first season of My Life With The Walter Boys was actually slightly changed from the book as the final episode left it unclear if Jackie was going to return to Silver Falls.
Showrunner Melanie Halsall told Deadline: "When you're making a television series that you want to be returning, you have to make changes from a novel. I wanted to surprise the audience.
"I wanted to give the audience something a little bit different than they were expecting from the book.

"I wanted to leave it open-ended what Jackie was going to do and what boy she was gonna end up with.
"I've often said that maybe Jackie won't end up with a boy but she'll end up on her own. Maybe that's still the case.
"It was a deliberate decision to make that change, and I think it was organic to the story."
My Life With The Walter Boys season two debuts on Thursday, August 28, on Netflix.
