Supermarket giant Lidl has issued an urgent product recall for stroopwaffles over concern they may have pieces of metal inside. A "do not eat" warning has been given by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for three batches of Sondey Stroopwafel with Caramel Flavour Filling & Butter over fears the product may contain "foreign metal bodies".
Consumers who have bought the item are being urged to not eat the affected product from the popular supermarket due to the "risk of injury". The retailer said the alert is issued for the XXL 560g packs with a best before date of 21 November, 2 December and 3 December 2025. The food safety watchdog has confirmed the product recall from the item sold in Lidl, which said the stroopwaffles are "unsafe to eat".

According to Lidl, point-of-sale notices are being put up around stores to inform customers of the recall. The signs will explain what steps they should take if they have already purchased the contaminated product.
Consumers who have already bought the affected item are advised to not consume it and return it to their nearest Lidl store. They will be given a full refund for the product.
The supermarket giant said in a statement: "If you have bought the above product, we advise you not to eat it."
They added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation."
The product recall only applies to the named affected batches and no other products from the same brand in Lidl GB stores have been impacted, it is understood.
For further information, consumers are advised to contact Customer Care which can be reached via customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566.
Last month, Lidl issued a product recall for Healthy Fit's Vegan Protein Bar over fears it may contain an undeclared allergen which can cause rashes, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
The snack was found to contain canola rapeseed protein isolate which can trigger a reaction in individuals allergic to mustard.
Multiple batches of the protein bar in Northern Ireland stores were impacted. The batches affected are those with the best before dates of February 28 2026, March 31 2026, April 30 2026 and July 31 2026.
