Three lanes have been closed on a busy motorway junction following a "multi-vehicle collision", sparking lengthy delays for drivers. Emergency services have rushed to the scene just outside Manchester on the northbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 21 and 21A for the M62.
National Highways have said lanes 1, 2, and 3 are closed on the northbound carriageway of the M6. Drivers are being warned of long traffic queues and delays of 20 minutes on approach to the incident near Warrington. In a post on X, National Highways North-West wrote: "Lanes 1,2 and 3 are CLOSED on the #M6 northbound between J21 #Warrington and J21A #M62 due to a multi vehicle collision. Emergency services are on scene. There are currently delays of 20 mins on approach to the incident."
