"One of the world's best movies" and a real treat for superhero fans will be ready to watch on TV today.
The Dark Knight Rises concluded director Christopher Nolan's epic DC Comics superhero franchise in 2012, following in the footsteps of Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.
Starring actor Christian Bale as the iconic Batman, The Dark Knight Rises sees Bruce Wayne forced to return from exile to protect Gotham City after taking the blame for Harvey Dent's crimes.
But the city is in need of a superhero as commander of the League of Shadows Bane (Tom Hardy) attacks Gotham and orchestrates a revolution as he threatens to detonate a nuclear bomb.
As well as Bale and Hardy, the film stars Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Joey King and Liam Neeson so it is truly a star-studded affair.
Fans will be able to relive the explosive film today, Tuesday, October 28, with The Dark Knight Rises airing at 11.10pm on ITV.
As well as scoring an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has also attracted an abundance of praise from fans over the years.
"The absolute best movie in the Christopher Nolan Batman Trilogy!" someone exclaimed on Google.
A fellow fan agreed: "The Dark Knight Rises is a cinematic triumph that not only concludes an exceptional trilogy but also stands as a testament to the power of storytelling in the superhero genre."
A third posted: "This is one of the world's best movies guaranteed, I loved it", as a user also commented: "Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy is the best thing ever happened to Hollywood.
"The entire movie keeps you busy watching it and not to blink your eyes."
While The Dark Knight Rises spelled the end for Nolan's trilogy, the superhero franchise was resurrected with the 2022 movie The Batman with actor Robert Pattinson in the titular role.
Its sequel, The Batman Part II, is currently scheduled for release in October 2027 with production expected to begin in spring 2026.
The Dark Knight Rises airs on Tuesday, October 28, at 11.10pm on ITV.
