Morrisons has issued an urgent alert to shoppers, warning them to "avoid consuming" a particular item.
The supermarket giant is withdrawing Morrisons Savers Salad Cream after discovering the product may contain egg and mustard - ingredients not declared on the packaging. This creates a serious health threat for individuals with egg allergies, mustard allergies or sensitivities to these components.
Shoppers who have bought the item are being told to bring it back to any store for a complete refund and must not consume it.
The Food Standards Agency released an allergy notice, explaining: "Morrisons is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
"The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
In its guidance to shoppers, the Food Standards Agency has cautioned people to "not eat it."
The statement went on, recommending: "Instead, return it to any Morrisons store for a full refund. No receipt is required. For further enquiries, please contact Morrisons Customer Services on 0345 611 6111."
Customers are recommended not to consume the product and to take it back to their local Morrisons outlet for a complete refund. A receipt is not necessary to obtain the refund, Daily Record reports.
Morrisons has assured that the recall is limited only to the Savers Salad Cream.
A spokesperson for the supermarket said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."
