Prince Andrew "must have known" about the latest scandal regarding Sarah Ferguson's interaction with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Sarah recently come under fire following resurfaced emails that showed her interacting with Epstein.
Sarah, who is still close to Andrew following their divorce in 1996, previously pledged that she would have no further contact with Epstein and described accepting £15,000 from him as a "gigantic error of judgement" in March 2011. It has now emerged that she sent an email to him just weeks later - in April 2011 - where she wanted to "humbly apologise" and insisted that she didn't "say the P [paedophile] word" about him.
Royal expert and author Ingrid Seward has now said that believes that it is "inconceivable" that Andrew was unaware of his ex-wife's correspondence with Epstein.
She told The Sun on Sunday: "Fergie and Andrew were incredibly close and would hardly ever do anything without consulting one another.
"It's extremely unlikely she wouldn't have run an email of such magnitude past her ex-husband before sending it to their joint friend. We know Fergie was responding to a threatening email from Epstein after she publicly distanced herself from him in a media interview.
"I find it inconceivable to think she didn't confide in Andrew about sending a response to him when they were involved with Epstein together.
"She must have told him about the email and shared something of such importance as they both navigated the backlash against their links to him."
She then added: "Andrew has always been very protective of the mother of his children and they continued to share a close relationship while living together at Royal Lodge."
It has since been claimed that she had only done so to save her career as a children's author.
A spokesperson said that Sarah had only sent the emails after Epstein - who took his own life in prison in 2019 - made threats to sue her.
