Southend Airport plane crash: Full list of cancelled easyJet flights

EasyJet has cancelled a number of flights following a crash at Southend Airport in Essex. The horrific crash happened on Sunday afternoon at around 4pm, as stunned airport workers and travellers looked on.

Witnesses have described seeing a "huge fireball" and black smoke as the plane crashed while trying to take-off. The small jet was believed to be en-route to the Netherlands. As yet it is unclear whether there are any survivors and how many people were on board.

Essex Police have asked the public to avoid the area where possible, while rescue operations continue.

EasyJet operates flights to European cities from the airport, many of which have been affected by the crash.

Here is a list of the flights that have to date been cancelled: EJU 4662 15.55 Paris; EZY 5705 16.30 Alicante; EJU 7512 17.25 Faro; EZY 5731 17.30 Palma de Mallorca.

Currently, all other flights operated by the airline are still scheduled to depart on time.

However, passengers are urged to keep checking with the airport about the status of their flights.

The plane is believed to be a Beech B200 Super King Air and was on its way to Lelystad in the Netherlands.

Photos taken by witnesses show a massive ball of flames erupting from the crash site, as the plane ran into diffculties.

In a statement, Essex police said they were alerted shortly before 4pm to reports of a collision involving a 12-metre plane.

"We are working with all emergency services at the scene now and that work will be ongoing for several hours," they said.

"We would please ask the public to avoid this area where possible while this work continues."

The force said that as a precaution due to their proximity to the incident, Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club were being evacuated.
