Zara Tindall's 'something borrowed' is worth a whopping £280k

Zara and Mike Tindall recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary, and no doubt took a trip down memory lane recalling their star-studded nuptials, which included a whopping 400 guests. And it's hard not to think about their big day without acknowledging Zara's glittering tiara.

King Charles's niece opted to wear the Meander Bandeau tiara, a treasured royal heirloom - which no doubt fell under her 'something borrowed' for her big day. It originally belonged to Princess Alice of Battenberg before being passed down through the family - a sweet nod to her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and grandfather, Prince Philip.

The sparkling royalpiece has been valued by jewellery experts at Steven Stone, who estimate it to be worth an eye-watering £280,000.

Princess Alice was Prince Philip's mother and Zara's great-grandmother, making the tiara a sweet way to incorporate her Greek heritage into the wedding.

The piece features a distinctive Greek key pattern that includes stunnign clear diamonds - and it was loaned to Zara by her mother, Princess Anne.

Anne, 74, came into possession of the glittering tiara after her own mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was originally given it as a wedding gift, back in 1947.

The late Queen later loaned the tiara to Princess Anne before eventually gifting it to her outright, ensuring it remained a cherished part of the family's jewellery collection.

With the jewellery expert explaining: "The design suggests an early twentieth-century creation, with the earliest photos of Princess Alice wearing the tiara having been taken in 1914, a time when such Greek-inspired patterns were particularly fashionable among European royalty."

He continued: "It's a particularly sentimental piece." The tiara steeped in royal history and personal meaning, and would be worth at least £280,000.

Zara and her former England rugby star husband tied the knot on 30 July 2011 in a private ceremony at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The celebration was a glamorous affair with around 400 guests, including senior members of the royal family, sporting stars, and close friends.

The bride wore an ivory Stewart Parvin gown with a full skirt, paired with the Meander Bandeau tiara, creating a look that was both elegant and steeped in royal heritage.
