Marvel Rivals gets a new update ahead of Season 4 and PS4 release

Marvel Rivals is getting a big new update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The new Marvel Rivals update has been given a September 5 release date and a 3am BST UK release time.

The good news is that the new update doesn't require any server downtime, so all you need to do is download and install before being able to get back online.

The news was announced by Marvel Rivals developer NetEase on X: "Mark your calendars - a new patch drops on September 5 at 2:00 UTC to level up your Marvel Rivals experience with updates and improvements!"

As you can see from the patch notes below, the update adds the Peni Parker Wasteland Mech Bundle to the item shop.

Furthermore, the new update fixes a Discord doppelganger issue, as well as patching an issue with various maps.

The big update will be available from September 12, which is also when the new season goes live, alongside the new characters of Daredevil and Angela.

Likewise, the game will be available for PlayStation 4, but not the Nintendo Switch, at least not for now.

• Squashed a Discord doppelganger issue where, for players who connected Discord, sending a friend request would have duplicate requests appear.

• Corrected a bug where certain display ratios made it impossible to set costume Exclusive SFX.

• Corrected some confusion in Custom Game - Tournament Room spectator mode, where team colors were displayed incorrectly when checking them by pressing ESC.

• Defeated some Hydra-level persistence where canceling password input when entering a locked custom game to spectate would trigger an endless pop-up loop.

Maps and Modes

• Patched up a batch of pesky map bugs that could trap, squish, or send heroes tumbling into weird places.

Heroes

• Frosty Magic & Strange Gains: There was a bug where Emma Frost's Telepathic Pulse and Doctor Strange's attacks against Blade during Bloodline Awakening were giving them some extra bite, abnormally boosting Emma's Energy and Doctor Strange's Dark Magic. Everything is now under control; no more sucking bonus power from The Daywalker.
