NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the National Democratic Alliance’s vice-presidential pick CP Radhakrishnan on Monday and conveyed his best wishes.
He also shared pictures of the meet and said in a post on X, "Met Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji. Conveyed my best wishes on his being the NDA’s Vice Presidential nominee. His long years of public service and experience across domains will greatly enrich our nation. May he continue to serve the nation with the same dedication and resolve he has always demonstrated."
BJP on Sunday declared Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA nominee for the vice-presidential election, set to be held on September 9.
While making the announcement JP Nadda said, "We will talk to the opposition as well. We should also get their support so that together we can ensure an unopposed election for the post of vice president."
BJP national president and Union minister JP Nadda made the announcement after Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar unexpectedly resigned on July 21, citing health concerns.
Dhankhar, 74, left office midway through his term, only two years after assuming the post in August 2022. His tenure witnessed frequent clashes with the opposition, including a historic but failed impeachment bid against him.
