NEW DELHI: Utah Governor Spencer Cox on Friday said investigators discovered messages inscribed on bullet casings linked to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Cox said investigators recovered a bolt action rifle wrapped in a dark towel, fitted with a scope mount, along with bullet casings. “Notices, bulges” was written on one casing, while three unfired casings carried inscriptions including: “Hey facist! Catch!”, “o bella ciao, bella ciao” and “if you read this you are gay lmao.”
"Bella ciao" is an Italian song dedicated to the Italian resistance who fought against the occupying troops of Nazi Germany
The governor confirmed that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah has been arrested in connection with the shooting. “We got him. On the evening of September 11, a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident,” Cox said at a press conference.

US President Donald Trump, speaking an hour earlier, told Fox News a suspect had been detained. “Essentially somebody that was very close to him turned him in,” Trump said. “That happens when you have some of those good shots,” he added, referring to clearer images released Thursday by the FBI.
Trump also said Robinson’s father cooperated with investigators and credited a person “of faith” for helping bring the case forward. “With a high degree of certainty, we have him,” Trump said.
Kirk was shot on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University in what officials called a targeted attack. He later died in hospital. A high-powered rifle was recovered near the scene.
Earlier, Trump had praised Kirk, calling him “a good person,” and announced plans to posthumously award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom .
