The Philadelphia mass shooting , which claimed the lives of three people and injured 10, was caught on camera, in which gunmen were seen firing multiple rounds at others.
The surveillance footage showed that two tree individuals fired multiple rounds while several people, panicked and tensed, were lying on the floor to save themselves from the gunfire.
According to ABC, the footage is currently under police scrutiny as they investigate a violent incident that resulted in three fatalities and ten injuries.
The incident occurred just before 1 am on South Etting Street's 1500 block. Police, who had made several arrests during the weekend and were monitoring large gatherings, heard gunfire whilst responding to a nearby call.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered twelve victims, aged between 15 and 24. One additional person sustained injuries whilst fleeing but was not shot, contrary to initial reports.
Authorities have released surveillance images of several suspects. The deceased victims are Zahir Wylie, 23, Jason Reese, 19, and Azir Harris, 24. The wounded include a 15-year-old girl, two 17-year-old boys, and a critically injured 19-year-old man. The remaining victims, aged 18 to 24, are expected to recover.
'This is coward, wannabe thug stuff'
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel condemned the incident, stating: "This is coward stuff. You see the size of this block - individuals just shooting randomly into houses, into cars. I mean, this is coward, wannabe thug stuff."
Troy Harris, Azir's father, shared his grief: "I'm broken. That wasn't just my son. That was my friend." He recalled how Azir had previously survived a shooting in 2018 that left him wheelchair-bound.
Tyrique Glasgow, Executive Director of Young Chances Foundation, expressed his distress about the incident, noting that many victims were actively pursuing education and employment opportunities.
The incident follows a violent weekend in Philadelphia, with 46 people shot across multiple incidents, including shootings at South Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, and near 62nd and Vine streets.
